Adapted Arts for Teens and Adults with Disabilities

Taught by a certified Art and Special Education teacher with 26 years of experience

Adapted Art Workshops

Designed for teens and adults with disabilities, these Adapted Art Workshops focus on individual expression while fostering group participation, confidence, and creativity.

Participants in Rachel’s Creative Arts classes explore a variety of art materials and styles in a supportive environment and are encouraged to trust their own decision-making and creative voice.

These classes build community, nurture empathy, and help participants develop a deep sense of pride in their work.

Rachel firmly believes that ‘Art is for everybody’, and it is her dream to offer these workshops free of charge to the local community.

Rachel is a veteran public school teacher with 26 years of experience teaching fine art and working with the special needs community. She holds five Virginia K–12 teaching endorsements, including Art, English, Emotional Disabilities, Learning Disabilities, and Intellectual Disabilities.

Rachel previously worked in the Parkside program in Charlottesville City Schools, and has worked with the ACPS Post High program since 2022. From 2014–2021, Rachel also taught with Adaptive Parks & Recreation and helped create Robin & Mani’s All Buddy Camp.
